You will find that each staff member at the EDC is committed to strengthening families and building community. And, not only are our staff members dedicated community volunteers, workers, and leaders, they are also respectful and responsive to those they serve.
Joan Richardson, Site Coordinator.
As site coordinator of the EDC, Joan oversees day‑to-day operations of the Family to Family program. Joan has a BA in social sciences and psychology from the University of Northern Colorado. She has experience working in all aspects of nonprofit management, including serving as a nonprofit volunteer, program director, associate director, executive director, and Board of Directors member. Her child welfare work includes serving as the executive director of a child abuse prevention agency. Joan’s community-based work includes founding an urban community coalition providing wrap-around services for homeless and low-income individuals and families. She has also worked in grassroots community organizations, chaired a statewide coalition, and was the western U.S. director for an international parenting organization. Joan resides in the East Denver neighborhood and is delighted to be able to serve the community in which she and her family live.

Jennifer Duncan, Family Specialist.
Jennifer serves as the Education Liaison for the EDC, helping families who have youth with educational, delinquency, or truancy issues. Jennifer has her BSW from Metropolitan State College of Denver. Her previous experiences include working with adults and children faced with a number of barriers including education, mental health issues, developmental disabilities, and poverty. Jennifer has also worked on environmental issues in various communities, including watershed and recycling projects. While Jennifer has been a Colorado resident for the past eight years, she has lived in numerous states and countries as a member of a military family.

Andrea Silva, BS, Intake/Client Specialist.
As Intake/Client Specialist for the EDC, Andrea is the point person for our program, coordinating all referrals, calls, and visitors. She graduated from Regis University with a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Spanish. Before joining the staff at Family to Family Denver, Andrea completed an internship at Denver Rescue Mission and spent two years working in human services with Dominican Volunteers USA. She served in Atlanta, Georgia at the International Community School and in Bronx, New York at the Tolentine Zeiser Senior Center. Her work included working with low-income elderly clients and then refugee and American children in a 2nd grade classroom. Andrea is familiar with assessing client need and providing community resources and referrals. Most importantly, Andrea takes pride in being someone a family can turn to for support.

Roxane Farnsworth, Youth Specialist.
Roxanne serves as the Youth Specialist for the EDC, helping youth who are involved with the Division of Youth Corrections transition back into the community. She received her BA in Psychology from Metropolitan State College of Denver. Roxane has over seven years of experience working with at‑risk youth in residential treatment, criminal justice programs, and Jefferson County Human Services. Deeply passionate about helping families be successful in their community, Roxane brings a great understanding of the systems that families and youth must navigate in order to maintain self-sufficiency. She is also excited to be working the same neighborhood she grew up in.

Erica Crownhart, AmeriCorps Member.
Erica moved from Illinois to Denver for her AmeriCorps experience, seeking an opportunity to serve youth in a metropolitan setting Erica’s motivation in becoming an AmeriCorps member was heavily influenced by her experience as a volunteer for the Inspired Youth Tutoring Program in Chicago. In this program, Erica served for three years as a mentor to inner-city elementary school children. Erica graduated from Loyola University with a BBA in Human Resource Management and a minor in Psychology. During her AmeriCorps service year with the EDC, Erica will connect families to community resources and mentor adolescents to prepare them for adulthood.

Cathy Rivera, Family Advocate (relief status).
Cathy brings more than 25 years of social service experience to her work as a Family Advocate at the EDC. Cathy helps families with everything from emergency services to housing, jobs, education, mental health treatment, and more. To best assess family needs, Cathy often conducts home visits with EDC clients. She has extensive knowledge of community resources and helps families navigate often complicated and confusing systems. Cathy served as a case worker for the Denver Department of Human Services as a child protection social worker. She has also served as a foster parent. Cathy has her MSW from the University of Denver and is a native Coloradoan. Families, friends, and education have been life-long sources of enjoyment for her.
